[Even without the shouting, Krieg isn't exactly the quietest person, so Athena can hear him the minute he starts running at her. It makes her roll her eyes and grin at the same time, and with one fluid motion she ducks and spins, lashing her arm out in a sharp elbow jab at his solar plexus.]
It won't be a hard time for me!
[Surprisingly enough, once Krieg gets a good look at her, Athena isn't wearing her armor. It seems like a dumb move when sparring with someone who would absolutely go all-out... but with no guns or blades, what's the point? The armor would only give her opponent a better handhold when grappling. So it was better this way, really.]
[He notices Athena's lack of usual armor as he sees her, but he probably won't actually realize she's not wearing it until much later. Krieg himself had been so eager to get outside and engage he hadn't bothered pulling on his single metal gauntlet, either. As far as protection went, the thing was really more for offense than defense when all was said and done, and so would have been out of place in a friendly duel between two vault hunters anyway.
As it stands it seems the pair of them are both on roughly equal ground when it comes to protective bodily coverings...or, technically, the lack thereof.
As a Psycho used to brawling with other Psychos (and also now with Pokemon), Krieg is completely unused to fighting an opponent who possesses any sort of elegance or finesse. As such, the jab Athena makes to his solar plexus lands right where she means it to. He stumbles slightly and draws in a sharp breath at the sudden pain radiating throughout his entire torso from the point of impact, but lets it out mere moments later in a peal of loud, manic laughter.]
MnahAHAHAHAHAHA! HURTS SO GOOD!
[He whips back around to face her again even in the middle of his statement, one fist swinging up from below in a direct path to her jaw.]
[It's not a completely uneven match, thankfully! Athena's fought all manner of opponents, yes, many much more cunning than even above-average psychos. But her close-range combat still mainly consisted of using a sword and shield, not just her hands. So she may be just a little rusty right now.
Like Krieg, fighting Pokemon can only do so much for her.]
Of course it wou--!
[She cuts herself off as she dodges, her words melting into a hiss as she misses the brunt of Krieg's punch, but his fist still skims enough of the side of her jaw that pain explodes at the point of contact. Hot damn is she glad it didn't fully connect. With their differences in height, an uppercut like that probably could've lifted her clear off her feet.
And speaking of height, it's a bit hard to get a good hit on his face like this, so she'll bring the heel of her boot down hard on his foot, hoping to get him to sag over just a little. When he does, she'll aim her own punch at his face, a hard swing right this time.]
[Once again, Krieg is basically wide open to Athena's tactics; the sharp pain in his foot has him hunching involuntarily, and her right hook catches him full-on in the face. Well, mask. The force of her blow has him blinking stars from his vision and knocks him hard to the right, but he manages to catch his balance without losing his footing, and he recovers with another manic laugh and retaliates with another punch, this time aimed for her gut.]
Thanks for the FACE PAIN! Try not to break the mask!
